Folder Creation in Session Manager
  • Can we have the ability to manage our sessions with folders like in putty connection manager?

I support 1000's of customers, and sort them into folders, with folders for each customer under that and locations under that.

If I were to use Super Putty it has to have this feature.  I can't dump 4000 connection profiles into a single folder ....

    Thanks Meetshield

I am using Putty Connection Manager, and it seems Super-Putty would be a good replacement as it is actually currently being developed.

  • It is currently being developed by myself, blackoise and a few others that have submitted commits/patches.

The problem is there are a few blocking issues that are causing issues for me and I've spent a ton of time on them (putty/superputty focus issues, alt-tab issues).  Most people seem to be wanting things like macros to login and such as well as being able to cycle thru the open tabs.

I will make an open issue for this at the github page.

  • Thanks Phendryx, Its great work you are doing here.  I wish I was a better coder, I'd just pop in and work on this myself.

I'm about to start a project to do some web dev on a quoting tool.  maybe I'll pickup enough coding to help with this... Meanwhile still using Connection Manager.

  • Any Updates?  This is the only reason I'm not using Super Putty.  And probably hundred of colleges in my company and all of my over 1000 customers...  We can't download Putty Connection Manager anymore, so we are considering switching to mRemoteNG.  This project has no activity for 4-5 months...
  • I've added them to our Customer Wishlist under our entry for better handling of Adhoc folder comparisons.

For now, the workaround is to use the home screen and place in file
paths manually, and then open it as a new session. Or, create a session
with no folders set, Lock it (right click it in the Home screen). Then
always begin by opening the session and then dragging your folders into
their respective panes to load them.
